Pat Williams to Speak at University Club of Orlando’s Young Professionals Society Breakfast

ORLANDO - Pat Williams, senior vice president of The Orlando Magic and a noted motivational speaker, will speak to participants at the breakfast meeting of the University Club of Orlando’s Young Professionals Society at 7 a.m. on Feb. 17.

The University Club’s Young Professionals Society includes university, college and high school students who plan to pursue executive careers. Membership is open to young professionals under 40 years of age.

ORLANDO, Fla. --- Jeff Sweeney, president and managing partner of Grubb & EllisCommercial Florida in Orlando, Tampa and Melbourne, will be the featured speaker on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the breakfast meeting of The University Club of Orlando’s Young Professionals Society. The meeting will start at 7 a.m.

Sweeney, according to University Club of Orlando events director Justin Wright, will discuss economic trends and the recession.

Sweeney is the second in a series of monthly speakers at the University Club’s Young Professionals Society.

“We are booking knowledgeable high profile speakers who can share some of their insights into business, professional and social conditions to better prepare our members,” said Wright.

Membership in the University Club of Orlando Young Professionals Society is open to young professionals under 40 years of age.

Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club to Host Fundraising Events to aid American Cancer Society

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club will host two fundraising events in October to aid the American Cancer Society.

Rosemary Messina, vice president of sales and marketing, said ICI Homes and Plantation Bay will host a “Rally for the Cure” Battle Against Breast Cancer. Golf Tournament & Luncheon starting at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15 will be held at Club de Bonmont.

Friday, October 23, Florida Hospital, Wellness on Wheels will be parked in the parking lot accepting appointments 9-3. Appointments can be made by calling 386-231-3355.

On Saturday, Oct. 24, ICI Homes and Plantation Bay will host “Blast Out Cancer” starting with a Survivor Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Events include a 5K Walk that starts at 8:15 a.m., a 10K Bike Ride that starts at 9:15 a.m. and a Tennis Round Robin starting at 10:30 a.m., Messina said.

A massage therapist, esthetician, and physical therapist will be on hand for the entire event, along with Pro Fit Shoes representatives, Ice-Cream by Sally’s, Gift Basket from Noah’s Market among others.

Registration for the event is $25, which includes T-Shirt.

ICI Homes will present a three-day, two-night vacation at Lighthouse Key Resort in Orlando as Grand Prize to the top fundraiser during these events, Messina said.

All proceeds from both events will be contributed to the American Cancer Society, Messina said.

University Club of Orlando to Host Inaugural Breakfast Oct. 21 to Launch Young Executive Society for Aspiring Professionals

ORLANDO, Fla. - The University Club of Orlando has launched a Young Executive Society for aspiring young professionals and plans to invite a select few outstanding central Florida high school seniors for participation in the society.

Justin Wright, director of membership and events at the University Club of Orlando, said the Young Executive Society will hold its first breakfast at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and young professionals interested in joining are invited.

Wright said The University Club recently solicited nominations for outstanding area high school seniors and selected a few to be recognized at the Young Executive Society breakfast meetings.

Students from Jones High School, Wekiva High School and Olympia High School have been invited and have already agreed to participate.

Each year The University Club of Orlando distributes $50,000 in scholarships to local colleges, universities and community colleges.
