Children’s Talent Showcased Saturday at Daytona’s Volusia Mall

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.– Volusia Mall will be bursting with gifted children this weekend as they participate in a talent contest presented by the Craig and Janice Performing Arts Institute. The event, titled “Our Kids Have Talent,” will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Volusia Mall, 1700 W. International Speedway Blvd. It will showcase children and young adults between the ages of 3 and 23 as they reveal their skills in music, dance and fashion, according to Janice Lloyd, co-owner of the institute. “This is the first of several events we have planned at Volusia Mall,” Lloyd said. “This weekend’s talent show will have participants’ performances critiqued by local celebrity judges.” She added that the children performing will have the opportunity to win cash prizes, as well as scholarships to the institute. The Craig and Janice Performing Arts Institute is a new client of University of Central Florida Business Incubation Program at Daytona International Airport, according to Connie Bernal, site manager at the Daytona Incubator. “Janice pitched a business plan to Florida investors and successful business people last August ,” Bernal said. “As a result, she became a client for the UCF Business Incubator Program where the Craig and Janice Performing Arts Institute was born.” The institute, which will host a “Kids and Young Adults Mardi Gras” on March 1, and a “Spring Fashion Show Parade” on March 29, offers training in etiquette, music, dance, art, theatre and fashion.
