University of Central Florida Business Incubator to Host Human Resources Symposium at Daytona Beach International Airport Nov 27

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A dozen well-versed business professionals will share their expertise at a human resources symposium Nov. 27 at the University of Central Florida Business Incubator at Daytona Beach International Airport. The event, which is open to the public, is titled “Staff, Train and Develop Your People.” It will begin with registration at 8:15 a.m. and will conclude at 4:30 p.m., according to Connie Bernal, site manager of the incubator. In addition to UCF, Snell Legal, and the Center for Business Excellence also are helping to sponsor the symposium. “Hiring decisions take time, energy, and often money. The speakers will teach simple bullet point steps to save the expense and headaches of a termination down the road. They will cover topics ranging from understanding the hiring process and complying with employment regulations to employment tax and building a management team,” Bernal said. The speakers include: ● Rick Fraser, Center for Business Excellence ● Ned Harper, Small Business Development Center ● Greg Snell, Snell Legal ● Suzanne Forbes and Van Lapointe, James Moore & Co. ● Jim Cairns, The Cairns Foundation Inc. ●Tom Sanders, Daytona State College Representatives from five area colleges and universities – Cheryl Miller, Daytona State College; Raphel Robinson, UCF – Daytona; Lisa Scott Kollar, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; Davita Bonner, Bethune-Cookman University; and Robin Kazmarek, Stetson University – will round out the seminar with a session on finding and hiring student interns. Admission to the symposium is free to incubator client companies and $30 for all others. Included will be a continental breakfast, and lunch. The incubator is a partnership between UCF, Volusia County and the Florida High Tech Corridor Council.
