KISSIMMEE, Fla. --- Stonegate Golf Club at Solivita in Kissimmee has appointed Christopher Sterrick assistant golf course superintendent at The Oaks golf course. Christopher Russell, PGA, TPI, director of golf at Stonegate Golf Club at Solivita, said Sterrick is a certified associate in Golf Operation Management who was formerly with Orlando’s Universal Resort and most recently served as assistant superintendent at Sweetwater Country Club in Longwood. “Chris is passionate about the game and the courses he works on and he brings a strong work ethic to a highly motivated 10-person golf course grounds team,” Russell said.

Legends Golf & Country Club to Host Truett Invitational Golf Tournament Sept. 21 to Benefit Adopting Parents

Clermont, Fla. --- The Legends Golf & Country Club in Clermont will host the Truett Invitational Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 21 to benefit adoptive parents Bobby and Kyndall Truett of Clermont Florida. Christopher Russell, PGA, said Kyndall Truett is a cancer survivor whose surgery left her unable to bear children. The Truett Invitational Golf Tournament will help support the Truetts in their quest to adopt a child, Russell explained. The Truett Invitational Golf Tournament will tee off with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration is $65 and includes golf, the awards dinner and auction following the tournament. Stonegate Golf Club at Solivita Is Redesigning 8th and 9th Holes at The Oaks Golf Course, Work to be completed in Two Weeks

KISSIMMEE, Fla. --- Stonegate Golf Club at Solivita in Kissimmee has launched a major redesign of the 8th and 9th holes on The Oaks golf course. Christopher Russell, PGA, TPI, director of golf at Stonegate Golf Club at Solivita, said golf course architect George Clifton planned the work that will transform the 8th hole from a par 4 to a par 5. “Hole number 9 will become a par 4 and the par on the front side will remain a par 36, but with a different look from the tee that will allow for more decisions to be made on the approach,” Russell explained. Russell said the work will take approximately two weeks to complete.

Golden Bear Club’s Bart Bryant Earns his First Champions Tour Win as Clubhouse Cheers

Windermere, Fla. --- Gathering around the big-screen monitor in the clubhouse of Windermere’s Golden Bear Golf Club to watch fellow members win major PGA tournaments is becoming a tradition. But this time it was different, said Matthew Allen, general manager and director of golf at the Golden Bear Club at Keene's Pointe in Windermere said the cheers were a little louder this time. This time Golden Bear Club’s Bart Bryant – a 50-year old Champions Tour rookie – shot a 10 under 62 in the second round of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open in Endicott, NY on Saturday and then closed on Sunday with a 72 for a 16-under 200 and a one-stroke victory over Russ Cochran (67) and Corey Pavin (69). “I think the energy level was higher,” Allen said. “Bart Bryant could be any of a couple dozen guys at Golden Bear Club, for a little while he was all of us. He’s personable, he’s courteous, he’s extremely dedicated to his golf game and he’s a big winner,” Allen said. Bryant’s 10 under 62 on Saturday tied the record for the 33-year old tournament, Allen said, and Sunday’s climax marked Bryant as the Champions Tour’s 1,000th winner. “It’s always exciting when someone you know succeeds in a big way,” Allen said. “Everyone at Golden Bear Club was pulling for him, he’s a great guy, he works hard and he earned it,” Allen said.

Men’s Golf Assn. at Golden Bear Golf Club Donated Used Equipment worth more than $5,000 to Fairways for Warriors

WINDERMERE, Fla. --- The Men’s Golf Assn. at the Golden Bear Club at Keene’s Pointe in Windermere recently donated used golf equipment worth more than $5,000 to the Fairways for Warriors program, which helps returning military veterans recover from their wounds and disabilities and readjust to civilian life with golf outings. Matthew Allen, general manager and director of golf at the Golden Bear Club, said donations included 10 sets of irons, nine golf bags, 20 drivers and fairway woods and about 3,000 golf balls. Allen emphasized that Celebration Golf Management, which operates Golden Bear Golf Club, supports the Wounded Warriors project at all its facilities with free rounds of golf, lessons and fundraising golf tournaments.

Lennar’s Central Florida Division Promotes Randall Smith to Director of Construction

TAMPA, Fla. --- Lennar’s Central Florida Division has promoted Randall Smith to director of construction in the Tampa region. Mark Metheny, president of Lennar’s Central Florida Division, said Smith is a highly talented home building executive with more than 30 years of experience who joined Lennar last year as construction manager. Formerly Smith was vice president for another national builder. “Randy is one of the most knowledgeable home building executives in Florida with proven experience and he is more than up to the task of directing our construction efforts in the Tampa Bay area including Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties,” Metheny said. ORLANDO, Fla. – NAI Realvest recently negotiated the $1 million sale of a 13,500 square foot assisted living facility and its 12.7-acre site at 700 East Welch Rd. in Apopka. Paul P.
