ICI Homes to showcase four of area’s finest luxury homes during Parade of Homes April 27-May 5

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- ICI Homes plans to showcase four of the region’s most luxurious homes during the Northeast Florida Builders Association’s annual Spring Parade of Homes April 27 through May 5. Don Wilford, northeast Florida division president for ICI Homes, said the Parade of Homes is a chance to show off its carefully manicured neighborhoods and elegantly designed luxury homes to more than 5,000 visitors in just 10 days. “The Parade is always very popular and we’re preparing to host thousands of visitors,” Wilford said. At St. Johns Forest in northwest St. Johns County, ICI’s customizable Egret III Parade home offers four bedrooms and three baths in 2,946 square feet of living space with a three-car garage. The eFACTOR Energy-Wise Egret III is priced in the $500,000 range. The two-story, Scottish-inspired Nottingham Parade home at Highland Glen, located in the heart of Jacksonville off Beach Blvd. three miles east of I-295, is a four-bedroom, three-and-one-half bath luxury home and enough---3,888 square feet---space for a large kitchen, nook and covered porch with a summer kitchen, formal living and dining rooms, a two-story family room with a dual-mantled fireplace and coffered ceilings, and a second-floor balcony overlook. The Plantation II Parade home at Magnolia Preserve at Julington Creek ranks as one of ICI Homes’ most elegant designs, with four bedrooms and three-and-one-half baths in 3,160 square feet of space plus a three-car garage. The elegant formal dining room, chef’s kitchen, enormous lanai, grand gathering room and luxurious owner’s suite establish the Plantation II at Magnolia Preserve as one of the most desirable luxury homes in the region. Perhaps ICI’s crowning achievement in the 2013 Parade of Homes is the Preakness V Parade home at Amelia National Golf & Country Club. With four bedrooms and three baths in 2,752 square feet of space and a three-car garage, the Preakness V Parade home is the model of ‘smaller, smarter, sustainable’ design and engineering techniques ICI Homes has invested in all its eFACTOR Energy-Wise homes for the past four years. Such elegant design features as a dramatically offset courtyard entry, a huge owner’s suite and bath with dual facilities, a massive glass-walled family room and fireplace, a formal dining room with a multi-tiered ceiling, island kitchen and covered lanai will likely impress Parade judges, Wilford said “The Parade of Homes is the chance to show off your most creative and inspired ideas before an audience of very discerning home buyers and a distinguished panel of expert judges,” he said.

Rained-Out Silent Auction for Cancer Patient Rescheduled for May 4

ORMOND BEACH – Not even inclement weather could stop an outpouring of support for a fellow biker on Saturday 4/20 as hundreds turned out to help Sam Leonard, a motorcycle enthusiast who was diagnosed with lung cancer after she crashed her bike and received the revealing medical diagnosis. While the rainy weather may have postponed the silent auction portion of the event until next month, it didn’t dampen the spirit of those participating in the poker ride from Bunnell to Ormond Beach, according to David L. Sweat, whose law firm helped sponsor the fundraiser. “This is an example of how our community steps up to help others when they are in need,” said Sweat, a partner in the Port Orange-based firm of Rue, Ziffra & Caldwell. Leonard, who has been involved with the law firm in numerous benefit poker runs to help others, is facing expensive medical treatment and has no health insurance, Sweat said. The silent auction, which originally was scheduled toward the end of the poker run, will begin at 6 p.m. May 4 at the Iron Horse Saloon in Ormond Beach. FIRST GREEN BANK CHAIRMAN TELLS SHAREHOLDERS OF BANK'S UNIQUE NICHE MARKET, EXPANSION OPPORTUNITIES

Mount Dora, Fla. --- Kenneth LaRoe, chairman of First Green Bank in Mount Dora, told shareholders at its meeting recently of the bank’s unique mission – which is to foster local economic growth, sustainable business practices and environmental awareness through the communities it serves. The bank now has branches in Clermont, Ormond Beach and downtown Orlando and will open another one in Winter Park by the end of the year. LaRoe told shareholders that First Green Bank has opened doors to important new segments and unexpected opportunities for growth. LaRoe, who conceived First Green Bank’s “green” mission in 2009, said new and emerging niche markets represent major areas of growth for the bank, which now has branch facilities in Clermont, Ormond Beach and downtown Orlando in addition to its award-winning headquarters facility on U.S. 441 in Mount Dora. “Solar energy, energy retrofits, lighting retrofits, community supported agriculture, faith-based organizations and non-profits are growth segments of the new economy and are also endeavors we want to help foster,” LaRoe said. “Older, larger sustainable banking organizations are having tremendous success in those sectors. Those sorts of enterprises are very receptive to our approach to sustainable community banking,” LaRoe said. Before First Green Bank opened its downtown Orlando branch, a multi-million dollar manufacturer of sport accessories contacted the bank to open a commercial account. The reason? “They are a green company and they wanted a green bank,” LaRoe said. First Green Bank’s recent admission to the Global Alliance for Banking on Values, an independent network of the world’s leading sustainable banks from Asia, Africa, Australia, Latin America, North America and Europe with assets of more than $60 billion in 25 countries, has also opened new doors. “The Global Alliance owns a mutual fund that has approached us as an investment opportunity,” LaRoe said. “We anticipate they will invest as much as $5.7 million over the next couple years,” he said. First Green Bank’s first stock offering has raised more than $5 million so far and LaRoe expects to reach the $10 million mark before the offering closes June 30. First Green Bank’s mission is a big draw for employees as well. “I can’t tell you how many experienced, highly qualified banking professionals have said they will take any position available just so they can take part in our effort,” LaRoe said. “It really makes me proud that there are so many people in banking, industry and community development who understand what we are trying to do and want to be a part of it,” he said. Last month, First Green Bank reported its assets now total more than $225 million. This year First Green Bank plans to open a branch office in Winter Park, LaRoe said. “We are growing, and we are starting to see some of the fruits of our efforts elsewhere in our communities,” LaRoe said. “The future is looking brighter for First Green Bank and for the Central Florida economy as well,” he said.

Teen Driver Inspired Newly Retooled Website that Helps Parents Teach Kids to Drive Safely, Responsibly -- Compendium Software Relaunches Much Improved Program

APOPKA, Fla. -- Compendium Software recently relaunched the much-improved SaferTeenDriver.com web site to help parents teach their teenagers how to drive safely and responsibly. Bob O'Connor, Chief Financial Officer at Compendium’s BrightFleet.com, the online portal for professional and fleet drivers, said his daughter---a teen driver---played a key role in helping to develop SafeTeenDriver.com. “At Brightfleet.com we’ve spent years developing online tools to help professional drivers improve their safety and reduce risk,” O'Connor explained. “My teenage daughter was learning to drive, and that made the whole task personal,” O’Connor said. “I was looking for ways to expose her to the life-threatening hazards that await her out on the highways without risking her safety. Most teens don’t acknowledge risk or danger until they experience it firsthand, and all too often that experience can be tragic,” O’Connor said. “They haven’t developed their situational awareness skills, and tend to target-fixate on hazards that appear suddenly instead of concentrating on how to solve the crisis,” he said. O’Connor’s colleagues at Brightfleet.com proposed a solution. “We began by modifying some of the online tools we use to evaluate and improve professional drivers’ hazard perception skills and the project evolved into one of the best and most important investments a parent of a teen driver can ever make,” he said. SaferTeenDriver.com combines the online gaming skills most teenagers possess with research-driven and statistically proven measurements of hazards, risks, and ways to avoid them, O’Connor said. O’Connor’s daughter was one of the first to try the new program. Soon, she turned from student to teacher. “She started talking me through potential hazards as we drove along,” O’Connor said. “It really blew me away that she adapted so well and so quickly,” he said. A brief video at SaferTeenDriver.com shows parents how they can help their teen drivers improve their skills---and their safety. An online parent-teen training course retails for $119.95, and a $99.95 introductory discount is available by using the code "TheExtraMile" during the enrollment process. SaferTeenDriver.com is a service of BrightFleet.com, a division of Compendium Software Systems, LLC a client member of the UCF Business Incubation Program in Apopka. For more information, visit SaferTeenDriver.com or telephone Compendium Software at 407-545-2200.

Omega3 Innovations Offers Heart-Healthy Cookies Wrapped in Company Logos for Businesses Wanting to Enhance their Corporate Wellness Programs

VENICE, FL – Soon after the chief executive officer of a North Carolina-based packaging company began providing the Omega Heaven cookie as a break-time snack for his employees, he quickly realized the many benefits the nutritious dark chocolate-covered oat fiber and fish oil treats offered. In addition to promoting the cookies’ delicious taste and numerous health benefits, CEO Jim Anderson says there’s also the corporate branding advantage by placing the Global Packaging Solutions logo on the individually-wrapped cookies. "…Everyone likes the ability to have to their name on things,” he says. “I think [Omega Heaven] is a nice product that you can offer to your employees and show your pride in the company. When employees see things with their name on it, they think, ‘That's kind of neat.’" And, that’s exactly what the founders of Omega3 Innovations were hoping when they scheduled the launch of their corporate-wellness/co-branding packaging for April 15, 2013. “The combination of oat fiber, dark chocolate and omega-3 fish oil is good for the health of employees and the co-branding with the company logos helps companies market their corporate wellness programs,” says Dr. Bo Martinsen, co-founder of the Venice, FL bio-tech company. “By putting their logo and their slogans on the Omega Heaven packaging, companies clearly show their employees and customers, ‘We care about you. We care about your health.’ ” Each Omega Heaven contains four grams of oat fiber or the equivalent amount of fiber in an average serving of oatmeal, according to Martinsen. The cookie also has 1000 mg of EPA/DHA from omega-3 fish oil; the same as three fish oil capsules. While the cookie – which is gluten-free and diabetic-friendly – contains healthy ingredients, it was the taste that made it a selling point for Global Packaging and for Weber Manufacturing and Supplies in Nokomis, FL. The manufacturing company’s employees had a similar overwhelmingly positive reaction to the Omega Heaven after enjoying them the past month, according to Weber’s President, Sam Prost. “At first, my brain couldn’t get past the fish oil and cookie in one product,” says Prost. After tasting them, my taste buds take over and I look forward to my cookie each day. I have also lost about ten pounds in four weeks not doing anything other than eating the Omega Heaven cookie.” Martinsen said he hopes the positive feedback from the two companies will inspire others to offer the products to show they not only care about their employees, but they also care about their health. Anderson doesn’t need any convincing. "The response to the Omega Heaven has been very positive,” says Anderson. “Everyone likes them. We had worked with a health-food product a few years ago…but it didn't taste very good, so everyone was a little skeptical of the Omega Heaven at first. Now, every day, I look forward to coming in and having one.” For details on how to get your company logo on the Omega Heaven, contact Omega3 Innovations at 941-485-4400 or visit www.omega3innovations.com. About Omega3 Innovations: Founded by Bo Martinsen, M.D., and Anne-Marie Chalmers, M.D. – two physicians who have worked with omega-3 fish oil for more than 15 years – the company offers several varieties of Omega Cookies, as well as Omega Cure supplements and chocolates. Each Omega Cookie contains seven capsules worth of omega-3 fish oil, five grams of fiber, 200% of the recommended daily value of vitamin D and 35% of the daily value of calcium. In 2010 at the Sarasota County Economic Development Corporation’s Hall of Fame awards, the company was named a winner in the category of innovations for being the first company to create a bakery product that contains an effective dose of omega-3 fish oil. Bellagio Custom Homes’ Luxury Model Scores Hat Trick in Flagler Parade of Homes

PALM COAST – Three-year-old Bellagio Custom Homes is proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the luxury homebuilding industry, as the family-owned company’s well-appointed Florenza II luxury model received three top honors at the 2013 Flagler Parade of Homes. Bellagio, which is a sister company of SeaGate Homes – brought home trophies for the first-place Realtor's Choice Award in the $320,000 and above category, a Grand Award in the $345,000-$375,000 range, and the Top Score Award for the best home in the parade, according to Robert Gazzoli, president of the Palm Coast-based company. But, kudos aren’t anything new for the 3,490-square-foot Florenza II model, which is situated on a half-acre lakefront lot with a breathtaking pool and spa at 212 Willow Oak Way in the Wild Oaks estate neighborhood of Grand Haven. The four-bedroom, four-bath model received two top awards – the Grand Award and Realtor’s Choice Award – at last year’s parade. Not a bad showing for two consecutive years from one of the area’s newest homebuilders. “I think it says a lot about our designs and workmanship that the $742,000 model sold last year while it was being built,” Gazzoli said. “We are currently doing a lease-back on it and are in the planning stages of a new model in Ocean Hammock.” Gazzoli, who also serves as president of SeaGate Homes – Flagler County’s largest homebuilder – said the decision to create a separate luxury homebuilding company is proving to have been a wise one. Throughout SeaGate’s 19 years in business, Gazzoli said the company has had numerous requests for larger, custom homes. “We decided to start a new company because there were just so many differences that it didn’t make sense to try and be everything to everyone,” he said. “Bellagio – which has a variety of plans to choose from – also offers in-house architectural drafting and employs a licensed Interior Designer to assist customers in making color selections and is building a new Design Studio complete with over 2,000 sq. ft. of display space for customers coordinate their interior appointments.” The growing company, which Gazzoli said has plans to start more inventory homes in Ocean Hammock and Palm Coast Plantation, has several contracted homes under construction in Grand Haven, the Tidelands, Ocean Hammock, Palm Coast Plantation and Hammock Dunes. For more information about the Florenza II or other Bellagio properties, please call 386-246-6175 or visit www.BellagioHomesFL.com. ALTR Supports Local Susan G. Komen Group by Creating Pink Button Covers for Breast Cancer Awareness

ORLANDO, Fla. – ALTR, an Orlando startup that creates trendy button covers, is an official sponsor of the Central Florida affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and is producing “Pink for the Cure” button covers to help create awareness of the disease. Alexandra Gramatikas, co-founder of the internet-based company, initially began by creating decorative gold and orange button covers with University of Central Florida and University of Florida logos. Currently ALTR button covers can also be purchased in Winter Park at Siegel’s Clothing and Gray’s Bookstore. Now, she’s ready to produce bright pink “button covers for a cause” and to revolutionize how to raise awareness for breast cancer by integrating it into everyday apparel, rather than only one month out of the year. Gramatikas is asking for support from the community in the form of crowdfunding, which uses the internet to pool money for anything from political campaigns and civic projects to scientific research and disaster relief. “We’ve turned to crowdfunding to help us manage the manufacturing of our newest button cover,” Gramatikas said. “For every box of six small or four large button covers that is pre-ordered, ALTR will donate $1 to Susan G. Komen. This will not only help us reach a different market, it will help us manage our manufacturing efficiently.” “We’re allowing people to pre-order covers at a discounted price of $10 during the crowdfunding period, then we will manufacture them and sell them at the full price of $12,” Gramatikas explained. The button covers are made of ABS plastic and slide onto existing buttons on most shirts, blouses and blazers. They are machine washable and also can be slipped onto shoes, hats, handbags and other items. “I think they’ll be great for hospitals and clinics to give out to staff, patients and especially to those getting a mammogram, and for runners who want to show their support in races and marathons.” Gramatikas said she hopes the crowdfunding effort – which runs through May 4 – will generate enough money so that ALTR can make a substantial donation to the Breast Cancer Awareness cause by the annual observance in October. To learn more about ALTR’s efforts, visit www.madetoaltr.com or the ALTR web page on RocketHub, a crowdfunding website, at http://rkthb.co/12737. ALTR is a client company of the University of Central Florida’s Business Incubation Program – Orlando.

Luxury Highrise Penthouse Suite Could Become Orlando’s Newest, Classiest Night Club

ORLANDO, Fla. --- A 9,470 square foot penthouse space and 10,000 square foot sky terrace patio overlooking Lake Eola could become downtown Orlando’s most luxurious night club if Roger Soderstrom, founder and owner of Stirling Sotheby’s International Realty gets his way. Stirling Sotheby’s International Realty currently represents the space on the 16th floor of The Plaza’s North Tower on S. Orange Avenue at Pine Street, and Soderstrom said his group is talking to local, national and international night club operators. “We have had interest in the penthouse and the feedback we’ve been getting from the industry is that the space is one of the best in the region for this type of use,” Soderstrom said. Downtown Orlando’s performing arts center could also kick-start the club, Soderstrom said. “As the local economy improves we believe the Plaza’s North Tower Penthouse could emerge as one of the region’s premier leisure and entertainment venues,” Soderstrom said. Soderstrom said Stirling Sotheby’s International Realty commercial specialist John Kurtz is handling the leasing arrangements for the property. Kurtz said the lease agreement includes a full event kitchen, board room, conference area, TV monitors, patio furniture and bar with elegant elevator foyer, reception center, full prep kitchen, air-conditioned computer room and other features. New Release from Sundog Software Makes Virtual Oceans Come Alive For Simulation, Game Developers

ORLANDO, Fla. --- The newest software release from Sundog Software LLC combines real oceanographic research with advanced mathematics and the latest graphics technology to make virtual oceans come alive for developers of training simulators and video games. Frank Kane, founder of Sundog Software, said Version 2.1 of Sundog’s Triton Ocean SDK software library, used by developers worldwide to add realistic 3D water effects to games, simulations, and training applications, offers unparalleled realism in the look and action of ocean forces. And the closer you get, the better it looks. “Triton 2.1 simulates literally tens of thousands of waves at once, and adds them together in every frame with a technique called inverse fast Fourier transform (FFT) to produce highly realistic swells, spray, and wind waves based on a real physical simulation,” Kane explained. “We’re using real oceanographic research to power real-time water effects with a stunning level of realism. That’s as important for game developers as it is for maritime training simulators---what trainees see on the monitors is almost exactly what they will see on the ocean,” Kane said. Sundog’s Triton 2.1 applies the latest physical models for ocean waves---Pierson-Moskowitz and JONSWAP---to tens of thousands of waves at once, at hundreds of frames per second. With Triton 2.1, game and simulation developers can add swells from distant storms and can even simulate fetch length---the effect of how far wind has traveled on the waves in the scene. Sundog’s Triton Ocean SDK software library is already popular with video game companies and large military contractors, and has been purchased by the US Navy and the Federal Aviation Administration. Demos, videos, and evaluation kits are available from Sundog’s website at http://www.sundog-soft.com/ Sundog Software is a client company of the University of Central Florida Business Incubation Program in the Central Florida Research Park in East Orange County.
