ORLANDO, Fla. - Data Transfer Solutions, LLC based in downtown Avalon Park was recently awarded a major contract by the U.S. Forest Service to design and deploy a GIS mapping system to monitor the health of forests in the U.S.
A.M. “Trey” Fragala III, AICP, chief operating officer at Data Transfer Solutions, said the IDIQ (Indefinite Quantity, Indefinite Delivery) contract was awarded by the U.S. Forest Service’s Forest Health Technology Enterprise Team (FHTET), created in 1995 to develop and deliver forest health technology services to field personnel in public and private organizations.
“Our job is to design, develop, implement, and maintain web-based GIS applications that will support the monitoring and analysis of forest health throughout the United States,” Fragala said.
Fragala said the new system will play a big role in monitoring the effects of global warming on the nation’s forests and measuring the volume of renewable forest resources.
Fragala said the contract is valued at up to $800,000 over the next four years.
Based in Orlando, Data Transfer Solutions, LLC, provides Geographic Information Systems (GIS), transportation planning, asset management, Web design, database applications, and video and multimedia production services to local governments and regional and state agencies throughout the U.S.
