ORLANDO Fla., --- Geocove, Inc. an Orlando technology firm that provides GIS software and implementation solutions to government agencies and corporations nationwide, recently showcased its newest software breakthrough at the FEMA Mitigation Assessment Team Tool Summit in Crystal City, Va. outside Washington D.C.
Karyn Tareen, president and chief executive officer at Geocove, was invited to the summit conference to showcase Geocove’s ARM360 software, which turns a mobile device such as a tablet or laptop computer into a powerful GIS tool, enabling disaster relief specialists to collect and share real-time data synchronized live to a central database.
Tareen’s exclusive summit audience included a who’s who of the nation’s top disaster planning agencies, including FEMA, URS Corp., the National Institute for Science and Technology (NIST); the Applied Technology Council (ATC); the Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS); the Roofing Industry Committee on Weather Issues Inc. “The FEMA Mitigation Assessment Team tool summit is part of the larger effort to coordinate top U.S. disaster planning and mitigation agencies to develop and coordinate the most advanced technology support,” Tareen explained.
“The purpose of the day-and-half long Tool Summit was to provide a forum for discussion of post-disaster data collection and data analysis plans, thereby raising awareness among attendees and facilitating better coordination of future post-disaster efforts,” said Andrew Herseth PE, SE of FEMA’s Risk Reduction Division
