WINTER SPRINGS - The era of professional career politicians must come to a close if America is to regain its position as the leader of the free world, says Paul Partyka, Democratic candidate for Congress in Florida’s 24th District.
“America’s greatness as a society was built on the moral integrity of its citizens, not its politicians,” Partyka said.
“Every day, we are entertained by new allegations of political misfeasance, immorality and corruption, and we have come to expect that as normal,” Partyka said. “It isn’t normal. It’s an abomination and we should not stand for it,” he said.
Term limits are a powerful tool to assure that political influence is shared by many Americans and not just a few, Partyka said. “I voted for term limits when I was a city commissioner for Winter Springs, and that is still in place today,” Partyka added.
“Most Americans I know are disgusted by the American political landscape,” Partyka said. “How can we be proud of our nation when our nation’s leaders are so ineffectual?” he said.
“Government office is a sacred privilege and a public service. Those who would use it as a power base to reward their friends and benefactors have turned their backs on the ideals that made America great,” Partyka said. “We should vote them out of office, and term limits will make it harder for their kind to influence our government in the future,” he said.

Congressional Candidate Paul Partyka Supports Audit of The Federal Reserve, “Truth Commission” on American Economy
WINTER SPRINGS - Paul Partyka, Democratic candidate for Congress in Florida’s 24th District, said he fully supports an independent audit of the U.S. Federal Reserve and would go one step further to create a public “Truth Commission” to learn how the American economy collapsed and who was at fault.
“We are recovering from the worst economic disaster since the Great Depression and unemployment is the highest it has been in generations,” Partyka said. “It is apparent that we will endure unacceptably high unemployment for many years to come, at a tremendous cost all of us will have to shoulder in the form of higher taxes and fewer career opportunities,” he said.
“All told, the cost of the American economic collapse is far greater than the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11. Millions of Americans have lost their jobs. Millions of American families are losing their homes. Millions of American lives have been disrupted. This is not part of a naturally-occurring economic cycle. We need to learn how it came about, who was at fault, and how we can prevent it from ever occurring again,” Partyka said.
Partyka said he fears that financial industry reform measures currently proposed will not go far enough.
“Petty partisanship and ill-informed political ideology are polluting our nation’s financial reform efforts and what appears to be emerging now will do little to prevent future recessions,” Partyka said.
“We need strong leadership in Washington, and we need representatives who put the people first, not the speculators and the profiteers. I want to provide that leadership,” Partyka said.

Congressional Candidate Paul Partyka Slams BP for Slow Response to Gulf Oil Disaster, Urges Long Term Solutions
WINTER SPRINGS - Paul Partyka, Democratic candidate for Congress in Florida’s 24th District, said oil giant BP must be held responsible for the Gulf oil disaster and criticized company officials for their handling of the crisis.
“I believe BP’s strategy was designed to save their oil well, not the Gulf of Mexico, not the environment, not the fisheries, not the rookeries, not the beaches, and not the thousands of American families who will suffer from this disaster for the next generations,” Partyka said.
“It is clear that BP’s estimates of the oil flow rate were ridiculously low, and it is just as clear that their initial efforts were to control the flow and not to shut it down. Now, we have to pay the price for their strategy,” he said.
“The ultimate cost of this strategy will be borne by American families for generations to come. BP’s calculations were wholly economic, wholly self-serving, and we Americans will pay a far greater price than BP can ever compensate,” Partyka said.
America’s growing dependence on non-sustainable energy sources set the stage for the Gulf oil disaster, Partyka said.
“We are the world’s greatest energy consumer and the world is approaching peak oil capacity,” Partyka said. “If we continue this course we will eventually find ourselves at war with the rest of the world over oil,” he said.
“I believe America deserves a more honorable destiny. I believe America can lead the world toward cleaner, safer, more sustainable energy sources that mean prosperity for all Americans, and for the rest of the world as well. The way ahead will not be easy, but it is the right way, and our present course leads ultimately to disaster,” Partyka said.
“We have the resources to end our energy dependence,” Partyka said. “We have the technology.
We must have the will. America has a moral obligation to end our addiction to oil. That is our future, it is our children’s future, and it is the only honorable future for America,” he said.
