VOLUSIA LAWYER RECEIVES BOARD CERTIFICATION FROM FLORIDA BAR

PORT ORANGE – Thomas E. Caldwell, a partner in the Port Orange-based law firm of Rue & Ziffra, recently became Florida Bar board certified in civil law.

Caldwell – who has worked for the personal-injury law firm the past 17 years – is the only lawyer in Port Orange who is board certified in civil trial law and has achieved what is known as the highest level of evaluation by the Florida Bar,” according to firm President Allan L. Ziffra.

“We’re extremely excited that Tom has been recognized for his knowledge, skills and proficiency to be included in the only one percent of Florida lawyers that are board certified in civil trial law,” according to Ziffra.

Board certification, which was established in 1982 by the Florida Supreme Court, is valid for five years.

A trial lawyer, Caldwell practiced law at an insurance defense firm before joining Rue & Ziffra, where he now handles an array of personal-injury and negligence cases, including vehicular accidents, nursing home abuses, and medical malpractice. He also has obtained “AV Rating” by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating available.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Caldwell received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville’s Louis D. Brandeis School of Law.

Admitted to practice in all Florida courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Caldwell now can use the letters B.C.S. on business cards, letterheads or other correspondence to identify himself as a “Board Certified Specialist.”
