MORE THAN 6,800 MOTORCYCLE RIDERS PARTICIPATED IN FLAGLER COUNTY MEMORIAL SERVICE AND MOTORCYCLE RUN ON 10th ANNIVERSARY OF AMERICA’S TRAGEDY

PALM COAST – More than 6,800 motorcycle riders – who collectively created what appeared to be an 11-mile river of leather and chrome – participated in the Sept. 11 weekend memorial service and motorcycle run honoring the 10th anniversary of America’s tragedy.

The free all-day event, which was organized and presented by Chapter 11 of the Red Knights Firefighters Motorcycle Club and sponsored by the Port Orange-based law firm of Rue & Ziffra, began at the Kim C. Hammond Justice Center in Bunnell.

Speakers at the memorial service included the Rev. Tim Jones of Epic Church in Palm Coast; Flagler County Commissioners Barbara Revels, Milissa Holland and George Hanns; and Joe Vece and Paul Metzner of the Red Knights Firefighters Motorcycle Club.

Highlights included the singing of the National Anthem and God Bless America by Yvonne Robinson, Everyday Heroes by Katriahna Karma, Amazing Grace by bagpiper Patrick Juliano of the Palm Coast Fire Department, and Taps by bugler Bob Moore of the Red Knights.

Vece also led participants in the Pledge of Allegiance, and member of the Palm Coast Fire Department offered a Presentation of Colors, according to Attorney David Sweat, a partner in the personal-injury law firm.

“We couldn’t be happier to have sponsored such a moving event to memorialize our fellow firefighters and American heroes,” said Sweat, whose firm had several motorcycle-riding attorneys and staff participating.

The 67-mile ride, which was escorted by members of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Department, included free food, beverages and live entertainment.
