ANNUAL RELAY FOR LIFE SET FOR APRIL 28 AT PORT ORANGE CITY CENTER

PORT ORANGE – Port Orange’s Relay for Life, an annual event to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society, will be kicked off at noon on Saturday, April 28 at the City Center Complex, 1000 City Center Circle.

Included in the event will be an 18-hour relay race, an inspirational Survivors’ Lap and a candlelight ceremony, according to Allan L. Ziffra√, president of the Rue & Ziffra law firm, a sponsor of the race.

“We’re excited once again to be a silver sponsor of this event,” Ziffra said. “We have nearly a dozen employees either participating in the race, handing out water to runners or selling pizza and other items to benefit the American Cancer Society.”

Jessica Eckelbarger√, the firm’s marketing director, is serving as captain of the Rue & Ziffra team and invites anyone who isn’t walking with a group to join them in the relay.

Eckelbarger said the firm’s efforts in 2011 raised more than $4,000 to help fight cancer and they have set a goal of $5,000 for this year’s race.
