Cuhaci & Peterson Architects to Design Nine Residential Access Ramps for The Center for Independent Living of Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – Cuhaci & Peterson Architects LLC, based in Orlando’s Baldwin Park, is designing nine residential ramps to provide handicap access to private homes in Central Florida. Some of Cuhaci & Peterson’s architectural graduates designed six ramps for The Center of Independent Living over the summer.

Tina Kennedy, director of human resources for Cuhaci & Peterson Architects, said the design work is donated as a community service through The Center for Independent Living of Central Florida, which coordinates design and construction of the ramps with families who cannot afford to build them. Code name “RAMPAGE 2010,” the project will get underway in February.

“Each ramp is designed to conform to the conditions of each site,” Kennedy said. “Architectural design assures that the ramps meet codes for safety, function and durability,” she said.

ORLANDO, Fla. --- Avalon Park Group has appointed a nationally-renowned interior designer to plan interior features, appointments and color schemes in the new state-of-the-art independent adult and assisted living facilities under development in downtown Avalon Park.

Ross Halle, Town Planner at Avalon Park, said he appointed Bonnie Manson, president of Interior Design Associates, Inc., of Nashville as interior designer for the facilities.

Manson, who has more than 28 years of experience in interior design, has earned numerous national and regional design awards and specializes in adult and senior care facilities.

Avalon Park’s adult independent and assisted living facilities are scheduled to start construction next summer. The first phase, planned to be 100,000 square feet, will facilitate assisted living and memory care, and is projected to cost approximately $20 million.

“Interior design for adult living facilities is a critical element and a highly specialized skill,” Halle said.

Cuhaci & Peterson Architects Completes Design for Six Handicap Ramps for Underprivileged Homes

ORLANDO, Fla. - Cuhaci & Peterson Architects, LLC, based in Orlando’s Baldwin Park, recently completed design work to build six residential handicap ramps in the Orlando area. The volunteer services are provided on a pro bono basis for homes of underprivileged families.

Lonnie Peterson, chairman of Cuhaci & Peterson Architects, LLC said the firm is working with Center for Independent Living to design the new ramps.

“Each of the ramps would cost approximately $3,000 to $5,000 to design and build commercially,” Peterson said, “and they are essential to the lives of the people who are affected.”
“Center for Independent Living utilizes volunteers and donated supplies to build the ramps at no cost to the families,” Peterson added.

Avalon Park Group Aims at Developing Model Town Center Facility for Adult Independent, Assisted Living

ORLANDO, Fla. - Avalon Park Group has set its sights on developing a model facility in its town center for adult independent and assisted living, with construction expected to start early next year.

Ross Halle, town planner and architect at Avalon Park, said the four-story building may expand to five stories.

The first phase will include 140,000 square feet of space with 130 living units at a cost of approximately $21 million.

Ultimately, the facility will include 265,000 square feet of space at an estimated cost of $35 million, Halle said.

Avalon Park Group has commissioned a design and development team that includes lenders, architects, a construction company and an experienced management firm.

Avalon Park Group selected Winter Park Construction Company to provide pre-design consulting services, Halle said.

Cuhaci & Peterson Architects, LLC of Orlando has been named the project’s architect, and SanMar Management Associates of New York City will provide operations and management services.

Lancaster Pollard of Alpharetta, Ga., will provide lending services for the project.
Halle said the center will provide facilities for independent living and assisted living residents and specialized facilities for the care of alzheimer patients.

“We believe that Avalon Park will provide the foundation for a future that allows seniors to stay connected, healthy, stimulated and active in a larger familiar, safe and secure place with direct access to the civic, commercial, and residential activities occurring daily,” Halle said.
