ORLANDO- Melrose-Sovereign Companies, the Orlando firm that ranks as one of Florida’s largest community and condominium association management companies with offices statewide and more than 80 employees, reports 10 percent growth in revenues since its merger two years ago despite a recession that has hit the real estate industry particularly hard.
The company currently manages more than 170 condominium and community associations statewide with 2,500 individual homes.
Jack Hanson, LCAM, co-founder and partner at Melrose-Sovereign Companies, said revenues grew from $4 million in 2008 to more than $4.5 million in 2009. Revenues in 2010 should surpass the $5 million mark, Hanson said.
Hanson said the firm’s success can be attributed to a personal, hands-on management style.
Hanson and co-founder and partner Ellen Lumpkin, LCAM, are personally involved in the management of every community and condominium association statewide.
“We personally visit every community from Jacksonville to Fort Myers to Fort Lauderdale, and we play a daily hands-on role in the management of each association,” Hanson said.
Lumpkin said the firm’s ‘boutique’ management style is one of its most powerful resources.
“In this economy, every client is looking for authentic value,” Lumpkin said. “They want to talk with someone who can show them some results today,” Lumpkin explained.
That means a lot of statewide travel. Lumpkin estimates she’s on the road about half the time.
“We’ve tried to infuse our whole company with a fanatical attention to detail and follow-through,” Hanson said.
“The difference between a balloon economy and a real economy is real people responding with real results day-in and day-out consistently,” Hanson said.
Melrose-Sovereign Companies, formed in 2008 with the merger of Melrose Management Group and Sovereign Residential Services in Orlando, employs more than 80 professionals in offices throughout Florida, including Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Palm Harbor, Bradenton/Sarasota, Port Charlotte, Fort Myers and plans to open a Daytona Beach office this year, Hanson said.
