Riviera Bella creates stir with two new ready-to-move-in luxury homes that come with big discounts, free closing costs
DEBARY, Fla. --- Riviera Bella, the award-winning gated, luxury community overlooking the St. Johns River in DeBary, opened two ready-to-move-in luxury homes priced from the high $200s in December and developer Jerome Henin said the new homes are causing a stir at the unique award-winning luxury community.
The reason? The Henin Group, which is developing Riviera Bella, priced the new luxury homes extremely low and is offering big discounts and free closing costs to sell them.
“A luxury home priced in this range is certainly unusual, but we know market conditions in Central Florida right now and we want to continue to build luxury homes,” Henin explained.
The Maranello offers four bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths in 2,244 square feet of living space, priced at $272,845.
The Turino offers six bedrooms with three-and-a-half baths plus a bonus room in 3,307 square feet of living space, priced at $373,770.
Henin said both luxury homes include tile roofs, covered patios and gourmet kitchens among many luxury upgrades.

Best iProducts™.com of Daytona Beach one of 64 International firms showcased at 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The owner of Best iProducts™.com – a Daytona Beach design and manufacturing company – recently returned from Las Vegas where he introduced the iEraser™, The Ultimate Screen Cleaning Device™, at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show at the Venetian Hotel.
Robert Skelton√, a University of Central Florida Business Incubator client in Daytona Beach, said his iEraser™ received a great reception at the show, which was attended by more than 153,000 people. Located in the “Eureka Park” section of the show, the company joined 64 other up-and-coming international companies, which were accepted into the new showcase area of the CES show.
“We knew this was the first market segment we wanted to enter after sensing the increasing popularity of tablets, PDAs and other hand-held electronic devices,” Skelton said. “The iEraser™, our flagship product, is the result of nearly two years of product development and is unparalleled in its ability to clean fingerprints and smudges from glass-screened tablets, monitors and flat-screen TVs.”
Skelton, who has dubbed himself “iRob,” says the pocketsize rectangular iEraser™ – which comes in black, white and pink – removes fingerprints from any kind of glass screen with a single pass without rubbing back and forth. Later this month, it will be sold for $14.95 from the company website at www.BestiProducts.com or www.TheiEraser.com.
The iEraser™ was a hit at the electronics show as journalists covering the event saw how quickly their smudged computer screens were after a complimentary screen cleaning.
Because of the response, Skelton said he has secured a space triple the size of this year for the 2013 CES in one of the main convention halls alongside major players such as Microsoft, Sharp, etc. And, next month the company will exhibit at the annual CAMEX show in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they will market to more than 2,000 college bookstore buyers.
With manufacturing offices in Edgewater, Fla., Best iProducts™.com recently opened its design studio at the incubator office at Daytona Beach International Airport, Skelton said.
Doris Bernal√, site manager at the Daytona Beach location, said Best iProducts™.com is a welcome addition to the incubator, joining five other companies, and she is looking forward to helping them expand their product line.
All Best iProducts™.com products are 100 percent made in the U.S.
“Rob invited me to his shop and told me the story behind the iEraser™,” Bernal said. “I was so excited about his invention that we got him into the incubator program right away.”
Bernal describes Skelton as a “serial entrepreneur” who is waiting to have the next $10 million idea. “He not only has the iEraser™, but the potential to start a successful high-growth company here in Volusia County.” She said the incubator is a key partner in his business adventure and they are “going to help him take his idea to the next level.”

MOUNT DORA, Fla. – First Green Foundation of Lake County has launched an area wide study to find ways to strengthen the farming economy in Central Florida.
Kenneth LaRoe, a foundation board founder and chief executive officer of First Green Bank of Lake County, said the foundation’s study is looking at ways to improve the market for independent local farms.
“We are looking closely at feasible strategies to increase consumer demand for local farm produce and products and generate more market activity for farmers,” LaRoe said.
LaRoe said First Green Foundation is studying ways to generate more local farm-to-consumer business activity and more wholesale growth to hotels, restaurants and food suppliers.
“Farming is an especially valuable component of the local economy,” LaRoe said. “By improving the market for local farm goods, we can reduce transportation costs to import farm goods, get fresher, healthier food onto consumer tables and substantially improve local economic conditions in highly sustainable ways,” LaRoe explained.

OOTii LLC LAUNCHES RELIC BALL---PLAYABLE DEMO OF NEW SOCIAL MEDIA GAME THAT TARGETS AVID SOCIAL GAMERS
St. Cloud, Fla. --- ootii LLC, the Central Florida gaming studio that got its start at the University of Central Florida’s Interactive Entertainment Academy, will launch a playable version of its new social media game on March 6 that targets avid social gamers, the “hardcore” of the online gaming phenomenon.
Timothy Tryzbiak, co-founder of ootii, said avid or “hardcore” social gamers represent a growing niche of traditional gamers who are shifting time from console and PC games to games on the social platforms.
“ootii is offering this market segment an action-oriented alternative we think they will find compelling,” Tryzbiak said.
Dubbed Relic Ball, the demo version of the game has an ulterior motive: gamers who play the mini-version are asked to provide developers with feedback.
“Relic Ball is a skills based action game where players travel the world and discover ancient artifacts by interacting with the environment in real time,” Tryzbiak said.
“In the full release, users create custom content and gain rewards as other players solve and rate the adventures they create. That’s unique in the social games market,” Tryzbiak explained.
The playable demo will allow users to travel to select destinations and solve physics-based puzzles as they avoid flaming traps, leap huge chasms, and search for lost relics.
Tryzbiak said the demo will be available on Facebook March 6. The full version of Relic Ball is scheduled for release in June.

University of Central Florida Daytona Beach Business Incubator Honors International Speedway Gift with Conference Room Naming
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – When clients of the University of Central Florida Business Incubator at the Daytona Beach International Airport use one of their conference rooms, there’s no question they’re in the city famous for NASCAR racing.
Decorated with more than 30 framed NASCAR logos, racing posters and autographed photos of race car drivers and celebrities who have performed at the world-famous tri-oval, the conference room is a tribute to the International Speedway Corporation (“ISC”), which recently donated office furniture to the new business incubator.
Dubbed the “ISC Room,” the conference room is used often by the incubator clients who rent office space at the UCF Business Incubator at Daytona Beach International Airport.
“We are proud of our association with the UCF Business Incubation Program,” said Lesa France Kennedy, chief executive officer of ISC. “Business incubation provides the necessary resources and services to shepherd local entrepreneurs through the beginning stages of business development. We are privileged to support these efforts through our donation which will help launch new businesses that create jobs for our community.”
Doris “Connie” Bernal√, site manager at the Daytona Beach location, said “we are very grateful and pleased to know that our incubator has a little piece of International Speedway Corporation, which is a great example of what a Volusia company can accomplish. Volusia entrepreneurs will be inspired and motivated when they see this room and reflect on the fact that one of the world’s most successful companies started right here in Volusia County.”
The incubator is a partnership between UCF, Volusia County and the Florida High Tech Corridor Council. Like its counterparts in Orlando, Sanford, Leesburg, Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Research Park in East Orlando and Winter Springs, the Daytona Beach incubator is designed to help start-up companies as well as established businesses that may need assistance getting to the next level of their operations.

Florida Business Incubation Assn. concludes biannual conference in Largo
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Business Incubation Assn., a coalition of business incubation programs throughout Florida, recently held its bi-annual conference at the Tampa Bay Innovation Center in Largo.
Dr. Tom O’Neal, president of the Florida Business Incubation Assn. and founder and executive director of the University of Central Florida’s Business Incubation Program said the annual conference participants came for a chance to compare notes, establish best practices and set the agenda for 2012.
“Business Incubation is a proven way for Florida to grow its own economy and we have helped to create literally thousands of new jobs across Florida,” Dr. O’Neal said.
Business Incubation program companies in Florida range from the most sophisticated technologies — lasers, photonics, alternative energy and defense — to the most individual personal services and include almost every business category except the most common retail operations such as restaurants and hotels, Dr. O’Neal explained.
Florida can’t afford to wait for national economic growth to come to the Sunshine State,” Dr. O’Neal said. “Business incubators throughout the state are engaged in growing our economy from the ground up, and we have shown to be one of the most cost-effective methodologies to stimulate local economic growth,” he added.
The next conference, the Spring event will be held in Gainesville at the new Innovation Hub in April.

Real Estate Consultant Rachel Wein of WeinPlus Discusses How to do More with Less
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. --- Rachel Elias Wein, founder and principal of WeinPlus Real Estate Advisory Services in St. Petersburg, recently presented to retail property developers and real estate professionals at the 2012 ICSC North Florida Idea Exchange on how to do more with less in a recovering economy.
The formula works, Wein said, and can turn marginally profitable projects into income-generating super stars.
Her message: streamline the development process and focus on generating revenues.
“If 25 percent of your team’s time is spent reporting, processing, logging and routing work in progress, that reduces your ability to add value, costs you 25 percent of their salary plus overhead and makes them less likely to compete at a high level,” Wein said.
“If your focus on construction cost results in too much time dedicated to complex bidding procedures, you can substantially delay completion of a project,” Wein told the group.
The key is to measure and incentivize for the right results.
“You’ve got to measure savings from bidding against the rents you lose because of the delay brought on by the bidding period,” Wein said. “When you find that the cost overages you save are outweighed by the lost rent revenues, then you need to adjust or eliminate your bidding process,” she said.
Wein told the group that the new economy means property owners and landlords must play a partnering role with retail tenants.
“You’ve got to help them succeed if you want to succeed,” Wein emphasized.

Physician Couple Offers Valentine’s Day Gifts “From the Heart for the Heart”
VENICE, Fla. – Ah, Valentine’s Day! It’s that one day a year when family and friends show their love for others with the gift of sweets: scrumptious cakes or pies, giant cookies, or the traditional chocolates peeking out from a bright red, heart-shaped box.
But, this year, there’s a healthy alternative for that someone special that offers all the kudos of great taste along with a bonus; they’re actually good for your heart!
After much success with their heart-healthy and tasty Omega Cookie and Omega Cure liquid fish oil, Doctors Bo Martinsen and Anne-Marie Chalmers of Venice-based Omega3 Innovations unveil the Omega Passion, a decadent-tasting healthy chocolate.
Omega Passion is a frozen, pure dark, unalkalinized chocolate ganache smothered with a dark chocolate coating that combines high doses of fresh marine omega-3 [fish oil] and beta-glucan oat fibers to create a 150-calorie “candy” that even helps with appetite control, according to Dr. Chalmers.
“Within weeks of eating a daily Passion your body begins to heal at the cellular level with marked improvements in your cholesterol, triglycerides and blood sugar,” she said. “Since we began offering the Omega Passion chocolates they’ve been flying out the door as soon as we make them.”
The two physicians, a husband and wife team who founded what is now known as Omega3 Innovations in 2008, recently returned from a food trade show in Paris where the Omega Passion received enthusiastic reviews from both attendees and presenters.
Martinsen, a featured speaker at the “Food Ingredients Europe” trade show, said their participation was a huge success. “In Paris , people were eager to learn about Omega Passion’s natural anti-oxidant properties, as well as the EPA/DHA and oat fiber that make it such a healthful treat,” he said.
Here in the United States , Omega3 Innovations’ products meet American Heart Association guidelines of two to four grams of marine-based omega-3 fish oil daily to help prevent heart disease, Martinsen said. The amount is the equivalent to the oil in a salmon dinner or swallowing seven to 14 capsules of fish oil every day.
To order Omega Passion or another heart-healthy treat for someone you love, call 866-414-0188 or visit www.omegacookie.com or www.omega-cure.com.
About Omega3 Innovations: Founded by Bo Martinsen, M.D., and Anne-Marie Chalmers, M.D. – two physicians who have worked with omega-3 fish oil for more than 15 years – the company also offers several varieties of Omega Cookies, as well as Omega Cure supplements. Each Omega Cookie contains seven capsules worth of omega-3 fish oil, five grams of fiber, 200% of the daily value of vitamin D and 35% of the daily value of calcium. The company was named a winner in the category of innovation at the 2010 annual Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County ’s Hall of Fame awards. The honor came as the result of being the first company to create a bakery product that contains an effective dose of omega-3 fish oil. Local Law Firm Partners with Car Dealership to Offer Free Safe Driving School for Teen Drivers
DAYTONA BEACH – The personal-injury law firm of Rue & Ziffra has forged a partnership with Gary Yeoman’s Ford Lincoln to present a free Teen Safety Driving School on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Daytona Auto Mall, 1420 N. Tomoka Farms Road.
“We wanted to offer this course because there are so many accidents involving students who don’t have the experience to regain control of a car that begins to lose control,” according to Carlos Lira√, general manager at Gary Yeoman’s.
Students will be instructed in the fundamentals as well as the dangers of driving and all cars will have a drift machine attached to them for control, whether the students use their own car or one provided by the dealership, he said. “It will be a hands-on experience for student drivers.”
The driving school – which is being taught by professional instructors – is open to Volusia and Flagler county drivers between the ages of 15 and 19 who have either a valid Florida Driver’s License or permit. It will be taught in four separate 2½-hour classes of 25 students each starting at 8:30 a.m.
Classes have already begun to fill up and students must pre-register by visiting www.rueziffra.com or www.garyyeomansford.com.
With much of their personal-injury casework involving automobile and motorcycle accidents – many of which have involved teenage drivers – the partners at Rue & Ziffra were eager to sponsor a program that could help prevent additional accidents.
“We’re excited to help present this free driving school to area teen drivers,” said Kim Bouck, a partner in the longtime Port Orange-based law firm. “And, parents should know that their teens will be in good hands while they learn the fundamentals of driving on the road.”
About Rue & Ziffra:
Founded by John D. Rue and Allan L. Ziffra, the personal-injury law firm of Rue & Ziffra has served the Central Florida community for 30 years. Pulte Homes Grand Opening Saturday, Feb. 25 at Village Walk at Lake Nona to Showcase New Model Homes, Features, Floor Plans
ORLANDO, Fla. –Pulte Homes is hosting a grand opening Saturday, Feb. 25 to showcase four new model homes and 11 new floor plans at Village Walk at Lake Nona, located off Narcoossee Rd. in East Orlando.
Sean Strickler, vice president of sales for the North Florida Division of Pulte Homes, said the community event is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Crepe Company will keep visitors supplied with delightful food and beverages.
Strickler said the new floor plans include three, four, five and six bedroom designs that range in size from 2,430 square feet of living space to 3,649 square feet.
The new floor plans at Village Walk at Lake Nona feature first floor owner suites, three car garages, granite countertops and tile floors, Strickler said.
Two new features will be offered that are found only in Pulte Homes’ neighborhoods: planning centers and drop zones.
The Pulte planning center looks like an open room or den but it’s really a survival tool because it’s a place where you can organize the family — open the mail, pay bills, kids can do schoolwork. Since it’s centrally located in the home and open to the kitchen and great room it offers a lot of flexibility — it can be whatever you need it to be,” Strickler said.
“The drop zone is similar to a northern mud room — a place to drop off backpacks and shoes before heading into the rest of the home, Strickler explained.
The drop zone can have bead-board backing, coat hooks and storage for shoes. Additional options in the drop zone include upper and lower cabinets with granite countertops, electrical outlets for charging phones and iPads and cabinet cubbies for organizing the mail.
Village Walk at Lake Nona residents enjoy a full array of amenities including a clubhouse with state-of-the-the art fitness center, lap pool, resort-style pool and spa, tennis and basketball courts and a full time lifestyle director who plans activities for every member of the family.
The community is only a three minute drive from Orlando’s “Medical City” which includes the University of Central Florida’s College of Medicine, V.A. Hospital, Nemours Children’s Hospital and Burnham Institute for Medical Research.

VOLUSIA LAW FIRM CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF GIVING BACK TO ITS COMMUNITY
PORT ORANGE – When the Port Orange-based law firm of Rue & Ziffra recently celebrated its 30th year in business, the founders and staff also observed something else: 30 years of giving.
Throughout the years, the firm has sponsored everything from charity balls, motorcycle runs and Bike Week events and given monetary donations to organizations like schools, civic clubs and children’s homes, to name only a few.
During 2011, the firm contributed more than $171,000 on events that benefit residents in many Volusia and Flagler county communities.
Since Rue & Ziffra’s early beginnings, founders John D. Rue√ and Allan L. Ziffra√ set a high philanthropic standard for attorneys and other employees at their firm, who frequently donate their time and efforts at local charitable events.
“We’re all a part of this community and Allan and I have always felt that we should help out whenever and however we can,” Rue said.
On a typical weekend, anywhere from one to four community events from DeLand to Palm Coast may have received a helping hand from the personal-injury firm, he said.
Often the sponsorship is overt with a black and gold Rue & Ziffra banner, while other donations – like contributing money for school backpacks, basketball uniforms or helping a homeless family with rent – are less obvious.
To help charitable organizations request contributions, the firm has plans to launch a new website, according to Jessica Eckelbarger√, marketing manager.
“It will be helpful for charities, as well as for those wanting to donate to specific charities,” she said. The website, www.rzcares.com, is expected to be up and running by the end of February.
About Rue & Ziffra:
Founded by John D. Rue and Allan L. Ziffra, the personal-injury law firm of Rue & Ziffra has served the Central Florida community for 30 years. The firm’s commitment to its profession and its clients has earned it a reputation as one of the top personal-injury law firms in Central Florida. Known for handling everything from automobile and motorcycle accidents to medical malpractice, wrongful death, and social security and disability cases, Rue & Ziffra has recovered millions of dollars for injured clients and their families. With a staff of nine attorneys, the firm maintains offices in Port Orange, DeLand and Palm Coast. For more information, visit www.rueziffra.com.

First Green Bank Expansion Strategy could see Green Bank Facilities in Orange – Seminole Area before end of the Year
MOUNT DORA, Fla. – First Green Bank hosted more than 750 visitors at its official “Grand Green Opening” of its new award winning headquarters facility in Mount Dora recently and the following week opened its first branch outside Lake County in Ormond Beach.
Soon, additional First Green Bank branches could be premiering in the Orange and Seminole County regions as well.
“The FDIC has extended their period of scrutiny from the historic three year limit to seven years, which constrains our opportunities,” said Kenneth LaRoe, chairman and chief executive officer of First Green Bank.
LaRoe, who created the bank’s “green” approach to customer service and sustainability, said there’s more work to be done yet on the bank’s Clermont and Ormond Beach branches, including upgrades to increase water conservation and provide more energy efficient appliances and lighting.
LaRoe said he is also looking at ways to incorporate solar energy components at both locations.
“We have an electric vehicle recharging station at the Clermont branch and we’re studying the feasibility of even powering that with solar panels,” LaRoe said.
“In the Orange-Seminole market, a lot will be determined by the facility or site,” LaRoe said. “If we can buy a site and build a new facility we can incorporate all the things we learned in Mount Dora.
“We may be able to buy an existing facility that we can bring up to our standards,” he said.
“If we lease a facility, we can still make improvements that meet our criteria,” LaRoe said.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), which sets standards for energy efficiency and environmental quality with its LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) program, recently introduced new LEED-EB standards for existing buildings.
“We would like to open a branch in the Orange-Seminole market area soon and we are prepared to open one before the end of this year if we can,” LaRoe said.

“The condominium is the most spectacular penthouse at Marina Point, which adjoins the Chart House Restaurant where so many Race Week fans dock their yachts,” Soderstrom said.
The two-story, five-bedroom penthouse offers three separate master suites and panoramic views from a 2,400 square foot rooftop terrace and a second terrace that measures 340 square feet, Soderstrom said.
Located next door to the Halifax Marina and minutes from the beach, the gated condominium complex has 24-hour guarded security. A myriad of top-notch features in the penthouse include a 13' x 17' walk-in closet in one master suite, butler’s pantry, wine chiller, Subzero appliances and two inside laundry rooms.
