Strategic Alliance Begins With Day of Fun in Orlando for Underprivileged Children
ATLANTA – AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI) and Desire Street Ministries (DSM) recently announced a strategic partnership to aid people in need around the Southeast.
The partnership officially kicks off this week (Thursday, July 30) with AirTran flying 43 people from Atlanta to Orlando to enjoy a day of fun at Walt Disney World. The majority of travelers are urban youth who participated in summer camp at Summerhill Community Ministries, an inner-city ministry in greater Atlanta, and one of DSM’s partners.
“We are so pleased to be able to help those that are less fortunate in the communities we serve,” said Bob Fornaro, AirTran Airways' chairman, president and chief executive officer. “We believe in the work Desire Street is doing and look forward to a long and meaningful partnership with them.”
In addition to providing an unforgettable day for these children, the trip will help connect the leaders of three urban ministries – Summerhill Community Ministries (Atlanta), Parker Street Ministries (Lakeland, Fla.), and Desire Street Ministries (Decatur, Ga.; New Orleans, La.; Baton Rouge, La.). By networking together, leaders of these three groups will share lessons learned in their community development efforts, discuss solutions to shared challenges and encourage each other in the mission of community transformation.
“We are thrilled about our growing partnership with AirTran. We are grateful for their generosity and their commitment to serve their community,” said DSM Executive Director, Danny Wuerffel. “This experience will be very special for our youth. Many have never left the city of Atlanta, much less traveled on an airplane or visited Disney World.”
About DSM

The organization provides technical support and encouragement to other urban ministries. This vision of “Ministry Replication” focuses on helping passionate inner-city leaders develop the capacity to really transform their communities. Stirling Sotheby’s International Realty Named Exclusive Sales Representative for Luxury Home of NASCAR Great Mike Skinner
Stirling Sotheby’s International Realty Named Exclusive Sales Representative for Luxury Home of NASCAR Great Mike Skinner
ORLANDO, Fla. --- Stirling Sotheby’s International Realty, which ranks as one of Central Florida’s largest and most active realty companies specializing in luxury homes, has been named exclusive sales representative for a luxury home and commercial airplane hangar located at Spruce Creek Fly-In, the unique Volusia County community developed for affluent airplane owners.
The property, located at 3118 Spruce Creek Blvd., Home is offered for sale by NASCAR driver Mike Skinner.
Roger Soderstrom, founder and owner of Stirling Sotheby’s International Realty, said associates Rachel McGrath and Debbie Keilin serve as principal contacts and listing agents for the property.
The Tuscany themed Mediterranean Estate Home served as the personal residence of Mike and Angie Skinner, McGrath explained.
“With almost 10,000 square feet of total living space, situated on a premium golf course lot overlooking a lake in the prestigious “Bella Vista Estates” of the Fly-In, the custom residence features controlled gated access, a dramatic two-story entry with Cantera iron arched doors and a grand foyer that opens onto a graceful living room with soaring fireplace and columned music room,” McGrath said.
Keilin said the lavish formal dining room features an antique, glittering Swavorski chandelier from Italy.
“The home features a two-story gathering room with an entertainment wall with saltwater live rock and coral aquarium, and a fireplace,” Keilin said. “It opens into the old world motif, connoisseur’s kitchen with rich custom-crafted cabinetry accented with hand-carved scroll detailing and is accessible to a European inspired herb garden,” she said.
The luxury home sports its own wine cellar with a tasting bar, flagstone floor and coffered wood ceiling. And separate from the home is an entertainment area which includes an authentic bar, billiard room and theatre with Creston Remote System.
On the first floor of the mansion, the entire right wing is the master retreat with morning kitchen, fireplace and lounging area.
Numerous French doors from the estate lead to the lanai and meandering pool complex specifically designed for entertaining.
The Skinners also own and are offering for sale an 11,000 square foot Commercial Aviation Hangar with two delivery doors, a 1,200 square foot workshop and three private offices all with hangar views, plus a meeting room and wet bar.
The luxurious estate is listed for $2.275 million and the commercial hangar is listed for $1.475 million, Soderstrom added.

Social Security Advocates LLC Helps More Clients as the Economy Tightens its Grip on Working Residents
ORLANDO, Fla. – When the going gets tough, the familiar adage has it that the tough also get going. And, that’s just what representatives at Social Security Advocates LLC have been doing as more and more workers turn to them for help in gaining disability benefits.
“When the economy is in reverse, more people file for disability,” says Jessica Carrasquillo, a former paralegal who started the company in Cleveland, Tenn. in 2005.
And more filings translate into increased business for Social Security Advocates which opened an Orlando location last year at the Orlando Business Development Center on East Colonial Drive, one of five University of Central Florida Incubation Program locations.
“We’re kind of a recession-proof company; we tend to do well in a bad economy,” Carrasquillo says. “Most people don’t know where to turn or what to do to even begin to file for benefits. That’s where we can help.”
Carrasquillo, a paralegal for 20 years, spent 11 years handling Social Security disability claims for a large law firm. Jeanette Roman, who has 18 years of experience in the same field, runs the Orlando office of Social Security Advocates.
Roman met Carrasquillo 15 years ago while working at an Orlando law firm. The two later co-hosted an Orlando radio show for that law firm, which also helped clients with Social Security issues.
They saw the same thing happening again and again for those trying filing claims: Claim denied; appeal denied; client gives up.
“People have real issues and they deserve personal attention,” Carrasquillo said. “Our clients are individuals with unique problems; they’re not just numbers. And, we get to know them and what they’re going through so we can effectively help them.”
A new company website – www.socialsecurity-advocates.com – often is the first step for clients interested in pursuing a claim. There they will find information on what the company can do for them and answers to important questions.
Social Security Advocates does not charge a fee – other than administrative costs – unless benefits are obtained, Roman said. The company also boasts a 97 percent success rate in obtaining benefits for its clients throughout the United States.
As a full-service agency, Social Security Advocates handles everything for the client, including gathering medical records and filling out all forms, communicating with the appropriate agencies and attending hearings on behalf of clients.
“We do all that for them,” Carrasquillo said. “They already have enough to worry about.”
To find out if you are eligible for disability benefits, contact Roman or Carrasquillo at Social Security Advocates, 321-281-8376 or 423-473-6714, or visit the company’s website at www.socialsecurity-advocates.com.

One factor in recession may hit bottom this summer as new home inventories decline, reports Mark Metheny, president of Lennar’s Cent. FL division
One factor in recession may hit bottom this summer as new home inventories decline, reports Mark Metheny, president of Lennar’s Central Florida division
TAMPA, Fla. - At least one part of the housing recession appears to be nearing its end, reports one of Florida’s largest home builders.
Lennar’s Central Florida Division, which builds new single-family and town homes priced from the $100s to the $400s in some 35 communities throughout the Central Florida regions of Tampa Bay, Metro Orlando and the Space Coast, reports that it has sold out nearly all of its inventory homes.
“We’re down to the last 25 inventory homes,” said Mark Metheny, president of Lennar’s Central Florida Division. “That is a sustainable number, and they are spread out over our communities in Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, Polk, Osceola, Orange, Lake, Seminole and Brevard counties,” he said.
Metheny said new home sales activity is strongest in the active adult sector, and Lennar is planning to expand to accommodate the growing number of active adult and retirement-aged adults moving to Florida.
The home builder announced last week it will expand its active adult communities in Brevard and Lake Counties by some 150 new homes.
In addition, Metheny said, four new communities are planned to start construction before the end of this year.

EXIT Realty of Daytona will host Realtor Boot Camp with Real Estate Veteran Aug. 19-21
EXIT Realty of Daytona will host Realtor Boot Camp with Real Estate Veteran Aug. 19-21
DAYTONA BEACH – Alex Szinegh – a nationally-known, self-taught real estate guru – will present a Real Estate Boot Camp for Realtors next month in Daytona Beach.
The unique, three-day, hands-on training program will be presented Aug. 19-21 at the St. Demetrios banquet hall located at 129 N. Halifax Ave. in Daytona (32118), according to Aswin Suri, owner of EXIT Realty of Daytona, the innovative real estate firm hosting the event.
“This is the only one of this kind in North America,” Suri said of the riveting type of seminar that Szinegh – EXIT’s senior regional vice president – presents. “Agents have the oppurtunity to be trained as a top producer for less than $100 a day.”
Included will be instruction on interactive prospecting, handling objections, scripts, role playing and goal setting. Szinegh will help those attending lay a foundation to attain wealth in real estate, as well as their own attitude and lifestyle, Suri explained.
With English as his second language and a 10th grade education under his belt, Szinegh quickly grasped the art of selling real estate and has consistently received more than $500,000 annually in commissions during his 25-year career.
His personal accomplishments, according to Suri, include selling more than 2,100 homes in a 19-year period.
“He’s a fascinating and dynamic presenter and a brilliant entrepreneur who teaches others how to use his knowledge, skills and experience to master their own real estate careers,” Suri added.
Those interested in registering or receiving more details about the Aug. 19-21 session, are asked to contact Arlene Ferro at EXIT Realty of Daytona, 386-257-3948 or Arlene@EXITrealtyofdaytona.com.

Entrust Administrative Services Launches Web-Based Seminars, Classes to Educate Retirement Investors
LAKE MARY, Fla. - Entrust Administrative Services, which provides administrative services for more than 2,000 self-directed retirement accounts that total more than $200 million, has launched a new web-based program of live streaming videos and webinars at http://www.entrustfl.com/ to educate retirement investors.
Glen Mather, president of Entrust Administrative Services, said the webinars and live streaming classes are provided free to interested investors.
“Our webinars and live streaming classes are designed to educate adults of all ages about the opportunities available to them to invest their own retirement funds,” Mather said.
What began as a service directed at retirement-aged adults has expanded to include younger adults, Mather explained.
“We serve many people in their 30s and 40s who are accumulating tax-free retirement accounts and who prefer to invest those funds rather than trust them to fund managers,” Mather said.
“We’re seeing a major shift in the way people save for retirement, and knowledgeable, well-educated investors can generate higher returns within their retirement accounts if they pay attention to all the investment vehicles available to them,” Mather explained.
Mather said self-directed retirement accounts in the U.S. represent a major new source of capital for private investment that could have profound effects on U.S. economic growth.
“Self-directed retirement accounts offer the most promising new trend in U.S. capital investment,” Mather said.

Lennar to Launch Second Annual ‘Top Model’ Showcase July 25 through Aug. 24 with Buyer Incentives including Granite and Steel Kitchens
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Lennar, Florida’s leading homebuilder, reported it will host its second annual “Top Models” showcase starting July 25 through Aug. 24 in all 35 Lennar communities throughout the Tampa Bay, Orlando and Space Coast regions.
Mark Metheny, president of Lennar’s Central Florida division, said 185 Lennar Top Model homes sold during the Top Models showcase last year.
This year, only 150 Top Model homes were selected to be part of the showcase campaign.
“This year we are offering a wide range of special incentives that include granite kitchen countertops, clean steel appliances, hardwood flooring and crown molding in select Top Model showcase homes in all our communities,” Metheny said.
Metheny said low interest rates with low monthly payments and low down payment requirements offer an added incentive, and first time home buyers can take advantage of the government’s $8,000 tax incentive.
“The housing industry in Florida has changed dramatically and there probably won’t ever be a better time to buy a new home than today,” Metheny said.

Data Transfer Solutions, LLC, Launches Online American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Tracking Tool for Government Agencies
Data Transfer Solutions, LLC, Launches Online American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Tracking Tool for Government Agencies
ORLANDO, Fla. - Data Transfer Solutions, LLC, which provides professional GIS (geographic information systems), asset management, software engineering and web development services to government agencies, has launched a new online service to help local governments and their agencies qualify for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding.
A.M. “Trey” Fragala III, AICP, chief operating officer at Data Transfer Solutions, based in downtown Avalon Park, said ARRA requires strict tracking and reporting standards.
Data Transfer Solutions’ new online ARRA Tracking Tool makes tracking and reporting public works projects easy and accurate.
The Florida Department of Transportation’s District Six office recently deployed Data Transfer Solutions’ new online ARRA tracking tool, Fragala said.
“FDOT’s ARRA Tracking Tool page lists all projects currently underway by District Six with instant updates on progress, GIS tools to show project locations and links that show each stage of each project and its funding cycle,” Fragala said.
Projects are indicated on Google Maps images, and users can cycle through each phase of a project for more detailed information, Fragala said.
Fragala said Data Transfer Solutions can develop a new American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Tracking Tool for state and local agencies and municipal governments within a short time.
“Our American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Tracking Tool is simple to use, highly accurate, and easy to deploy,” Fragala said. “It’s a sophisticated bookkeeping application for a very complex set of facts and criteria,” he explained.
Data Transfer Solutions, headquartered in Downtown Avalon Park in east Orlando, with established regional sales offices in Portland, Ore., San Antonio and Boston, reported revenues of more than $5 million last year.

EXIT Realty of Daytona Hosts National Power Selling Seminar That Draws More than 130 Realtors
EXIT Realty of Daytona Hosts National Power Selling Seminar That Draws More than 130 Realtors
DAYTONA BEACH – Realtors who attended a recent Power Selling seminar at Aswin Suri’s EXIT Realty of Daytona got a lot of bang for no bucks.
The session, titled Power Selling 101–Mindset 2009, was offered free to the more than 130 Realtors who attended the daylong event, which included an afternoon catered lunch and an evening wine and cheese mixer, according to Suri, owner of EXIT Realty of Daytona.
“We had an amazing turnout with Realtors from nearly every brokerage in town,” he said.
“There also were several Realtors here from out of town offices.”
The Power Selling seminar – which was presented in June by EXIT Founder and CEO Steve Morris – typically costs $500 per person. But, because Suri wanted to share the information with as many Realtors as possible, his company picked up the check for those attending.
Morris, the mastermind behind the EXIT system of selling real estate, packed a week’s worth of valuable information into the eight-hour session which Suri describes as the “apprenticeship of the EXIT training program.”
With more than 32 years of real estate experience in both management and sales training, and a background in life insurance and the stock market, Morris is known as one of the most knowledgeable and effective real estate coaches in the industry, Suri added.
“Steve offered detailed information on topics like the psychology of selling, canvassing for business and setting and achieving goals,” Suri said. “It was the kind of information that can be used by everyone; from top producers to those just entering the market.”
Those interested in more information on Power Selling 101 or the EXIT system of selling real estate, may contact Suri or Natali Levine for details at 386-257-3948.

Ashton Woods Homes Reinvents Green -- Saves New Home Buyers Money
Ashton Woods Homes Reinvents Green -- Saves New Home Buyers Money
ORLANDO, Fla. – Ashton Woods Homes recently released its Power House Green with Environments for Living™ program where new home buyers can realize at least 25 percent savings on their energy bills.
Building green may seem like a new trend to some, but not to Ashton Woods Homes – a national builder which has built more than 10,000 homes meeting Environments for Living™ standards. Environments for Living homes are more energy efficient, comfortable and durable than conventional code-built homes and provide the homeowner energy usage and comfort guarantees.
“Ashton Woods is committed to providing our customers energy-efficiency, luxury, quality and the value you’d expect from one of the nation’s premier new homebuilders – all while keeping the environment in mind,” said John Reny, division president for Ashton Woods Homes in the Orlando region.
“Our customers can save 25-45 percent on energy costs in an Ashton Woods home. In fact, Ashton Woods’ Environments for Living™ homes meet or exceed the Energy Star guidelines from the federal government,” added Reny.
An Ashton Woods Environments for Living™ home provides benefits both to homeowners and the environment. Besides keeping families comfortable, Ashton Woods’ Environments for Living™ homes have reduced emissions of 5,813 pounds of CO2 per home. This is equivalent to taking almost 5,000 cars off the road per year, or 103 railcars worth or coal. To put this into perspective, it would take almost 700,000 tree seedlings grown for 10 years or more than 6,200 acres of pine or fir forests, to process that amount of carbon.
“We’re proud to be the leader in building Environments for Living™ home,” said Reny.
Every Ashton Woods single-family home and townhome meets Environments for Living performance standards as well as the EPA’s Energy Star™ program standards for home construction. These standards are monitored and inspected throughout the entire building process, resulting in the enhanced performance of your home. As a result, an Environments for Living™ home may qualify for tax credits under various government programs. In addition, Ashton Woods Homes uses Lenox comfort system products that have earned the Good Housekeeping Seal. This results in a cleaner, more efficient HVAC system that requires less energy and maintains a comfortable balance in your home.
The Environments for Living™ program utilizes techniques of building science to help reduce energy loss, including a continuous air barrier, efficient heating and cooling systems and tight ductwork. In addition, the program establishes requirements for tight construction, improved thermal systems, right-sized HVAC systems, fresh air ventilation, balanced air pressure, internal moisture management and combustion safety.
